Grand Prix of St. Petersburg
15:56
We arrived at St. Petersburg and headed to the Grand Prix, Ben and I love to watch sports car racing. I have always watched racing every since I was little, watching the Formula 1 and Rally with my family.
Ben is much more of a fanatic than me, watching all the different types constantly. We have seen lots in the UK, we know Brands Hatch like its the back of our hands and love visiting Silverstone also. We have watched races lasting anything between 25 minutes to 6 hours, so being in Florida when a nice little sprint race was on had to be done! Especially as it was guaranteed sunshine, not like in the UK watching in the rain!
Firstly we started by walking around the GT paddock
I Love Mustangs!
I love the paint work on this Lamborghini, blue lines on fleek
Then we got interrupted by the single seaters casually driving past us!
At the end of the paddock was the track entrance, where the Pirelli World Challenge cars were parked waiting to head onto the track.
This is the only world class car racing series you can stand so close whilst the cars and drivers prepare and drive onto the track, we have never seen this series before so we were pretty excited!
This is Robert Thonre, who drives for K-Pax Flying Lizard Racing in the brand new Mclaren 650s GT3
Then off they went out onto the starting grid, I had to take a picture of this Porsche GT3 Cup car love the paint job!
Found a prime viewing spot, as for general entry the viewing areas aren't that great at this track, which is a shame.
After the race we had a spot of lunch before watching the Indy Lights race, which Max Chilton was racing in. Max is a ex F1 driver and represents the UK (woo!)
But unfortuantly it wasn't Max's day, and he got shunted out in the first few laps.
